Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course in Tri-State Area
Original Course
Tri-State’s advanced cardiac life support course in Tri-State area is designed for healthcare professionals who are responsible for responding to patients in cardiac arrest. The course teaches advanced skills such as airway management, the use of both manual and automated defibrillators, the management of cardiac arrest, and the management of post-cardiac arrest. In order to be eligible for the course, students must have a current BLS CPR card and be able to read basic EKGs (lead II).
The ACLS course involves both a written and skills evaluation. The length of this program may vary based on the number of students in attendance. Typically, it is scheduled for 16 hours, but additional time and practice may be required. The ultimate goal of the course is to ensure that all students are successful.
Before the course begins, students will receive the ACLS textbook and handouts. A pre-test will be given to help them prepare for the course. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a course completion card valid for two years.

Refresher Course
In this course, the ACLS case scenarios are reviewed and practiced. Students are required to demonstrate their proficiency in the 10 core scenarios. There is also a written and skills evaluation. To enroll in the course, students must purchase the textbook. The course length varies based on the student's proficiency level, but generally, eight hours are scheduled.
For a refresher, students have two options. They can attend an original course or a one-day refresher course. To attend either, students must show their current or expired ACLS provider card and a current BLS provider card.
